Unique RTW Fall 2012
A sweeping maxi coat in officer green opened the show, announcing the military/utility theme of the collection and its slouchy, exaggerated proportions. Even biker and baseball jackets were cozy and roomy — the former in fluffy sheepskin; the latter in drab wool with sleeves in Harris tweeds. Fabric mixing was the other key manoeuvre of Topshop’s in-house design team, as in leather trousers backed in Prince of Wales check or a black boiler suit in glossy velvet and matte silk. Shirttail hems finished off coats, vests and languid silk dresses.
